RS-Racing Piston

Titan-Piston is a manufacturer of high-end-pistons, for better performance out of Al-Si in two versions "ST-Racing" and "RS-Racing". The "RS-Racing" version has a separate special-composition-insert in the piston head to ensure a controlled thermal cycle in the combustion chamber.

Functionality / Effects of the Titan - Piston "RS-Racing"




In the center of the piston head there is a separate insert out of a special alloy composition-insert implemented with an exact defined geometry. The special alloy and also the geometry lead to the result, that the heat will not be transmitted to the outer border of the piston (so-called bi-thermally-effect).







This bi-thermally-effect causes - due to the difference of the temperature - an extremely strong rotation of the gasoline-air-mixture in the burning chamber. The mixture is transferred into a homogeneous gas condition (the gasoline drops are so fine, that nearly a gaseous condition arises).







Due to the created optimized mixture, this mixture will inflame essentially faster (app. 7% faster as with the traditional combustion), this leads into a faster gas exchange: The efficiency increases, the thermally stress on the piston is considerably shorter.








The special-insert has in addition the result, that the ignition of the mixture will be always concentrated at the same position (that means in the area of the insert).
This avoids irregular combustions on differ-rent areas of the piston head and prevents in the same way the undesirable detonations (engine knocking) and also the engine pinging.

Conclusion: The faster gas exchange leads to a dynamically optimized efficiency (torque / power /
response characteristic)
